The Oswego County District Attorney’s Office, along with the SUNY Oswego University Police, will be co-hosting a training session regarding animal abuse investigations tonight. The training will take place in the Hewitt-Union auditorium from 6 to 8 p.m.
The training is open to members of law enforcement and animal control officers who work in the county, as well as non-profit organizations such as the Humane Society and Paws Across Oswego County.

The Phoenix varsity baseball team now has a 9-5 record after losing two games in its last three outings.
On May 10, Phoenix held off Cazenovia 8-7. The Firebirds fell to Marcellus 5-3 in Game 1 of a tournament held May 12 and then Syracuse East knocked off Phoenix 14-5 in Game 2 of the May 12 tournament. Continue reading
Ithaca College — Adam Kinney, a graduate student occupational therapy major in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance at Ithaca College, awarded the Graduate Professional Excellence Award. The Graduate Professional Excellence Award is given to the graduate student who will be an excellent representative of the program in the professional community of occupational therapy, through clinical work, research, interdisciplinary projects, experiential learning, or work in the profession or local community.

The Fulton varsity softball team won its last four games to improve to a 10-5 overall record.
Fulton cruised past Homer 18-6 May 9. The Lady Raiders topped county foe Hannibal 13-0 in Game 1 of a May 10 Tournament. In Game 2 of the tournament, Fulton knocked off Syracuse West 7-1. The Lady Raiders held off county rival Mexico 3-1 May 12. Continue reading
The record for catching the largest inland striped bass in New York state was recently broken, said state Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens.
Eric Lester of Campbell Hall, Orange County, caught a 60-pound female striped bass measuring 53.4 inches in length and 33 inches in girth from the Hudson River in Newburgh, Orange County May 14. Continue reading
