  1. Antique Appraisal Day returns to the Schroeppel Historical Society building in Phoenix on Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Appraiser Catherine Sankey is certified in the areas of antique identification, silver, American decorative arts, fine arts, furniture and wood, quilts, textiles and household contents. All evaluations include a written and signed statement by Sankey. $5.00 per item/limit three items. All proceeds go toward the Historical Society operation expenses and building maintenance. Refreshments served.

  3. On Saturday, November 1st, the AO of Hibernians in Oswego, NY will be hosting the Paws-of-Plenty Harvest Dinner. The dinner will begin at 1 p.m. and will end when all dinners are sold. In addition to dinner, items from Oswego local businesses will be raffled off and there will be basked goods for sale at the desert table. Tickets are $10 for a turkey or ham dinner either dine in or carry out on the day of the event.

  4. On November 2, 2014 VEGA, the Junior and Senior Women’s Honor Society, will be hosting their annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event on the SUNY Oswego campus. The event will begin at 11 a.m., when people from the community are welcome to bring their children trick-or-treating through the residential buildings. Residential buildings will be open for trick-or-treating until 2 p.m. In addition to trick-or-treating, a party will be held in the activities court of the Marano Campus Center from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. The party will include games, crafts, and food. The cost for admission to the party is two canned or boxed food items per child attending. Every year this event is put on in order to collect nonperishable food items for the local food bank.

  5. The “Good Neighbors” of the Jacksonville Faith Community will be serving a Free Turkey Diner on November 4th, Election Day, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Lamson Grange. This Diner is for all seniors in the community. The menu will be turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, squash, cabbage salad, cranberry’s and rolls. Coffee, tea, milk, and punch will be served. There will be homemade pies for dessert. The Lamson Grange is located at 9108 Fenner Road, Baldwinsville. From Rte 48 head west on Lamson road, go 3.5 miles, turn left on Fenner Road.

  6. The History of Camp Talooli

    Jan Peneston, Director of Campfire USA of Central New York, will present a program detailing the history of this popular campground. Camp Talooli has served the community since 1945.

    Admission free. Donations greatly appreciated. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

  7. 2nd Annual Frederick Leighton Home & School Assoc. Vendor& Craft Fair. Oswego, NY. Frederick Leighton Elementary School, 1 Buccaneer Blvd. Gym & APR rooms. Approx. Forty 10×10 spaces available at $20 each. Only 1 company represented per space. Only 1 of each direct sale company allowed per event. You provide your own display materials, table, chairs, cords, etc. Some electric available. All crafters and vendors are asked to donate a raffle item valued at $25. Spaces reserved once application, space fee, and signed waiver has been received. Advertising will be by newspapers, shoppers, radio, TV, flyers, notes are being sent home with students, and Facebook. All money raised goes to the Leighton Home & School Assoc. Event is Sat. 11/8/14 10am-3pm with raffles and 50/50 at 2:00pm.

  8. Free Veteran’s Day concert sponsored by the Fulton Music Association featuring the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division Band from Fort Drum on Saturday, November 15.
    The Fulton Community Band and the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division Band will combine for this concert, and conducting will be shared among several members of 10th Mountain and Carol Fox, Fulton Community Band director. Selections scheduled for performance include, Amparito Roca, American Overture, Americans We, and more.
    Concert is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the G. Ray Bodley High School Auditorium.
    FMA is also providing free transportation to and from the concert for residents of Towpath Towers and Fulton Mill Apartments.

  9. Girl Scout Troop 10101 is sponsoring a turkey drive . Their goal is to help those in need while earning their Silver Star award.

    Come to Walmart or Struppler’s in Fulton to donate fresh or frozen turkeys. Saturday 11/15 from 10-4.

    On Sunday 11/16 turkeys can be donated at Walmart in Fulton from 3-5pm.

  11. Christmas Oswego Community Youth Orchestra Breakfast Buffet Benefit with Santa & Diamond Necklace Raffle.

    A full array of family and child activities will be offered on Sunday, December 21 for the Christmas OCYO Breakfast Buffet Benefit with Santa and Raffle from 8am-noon at Lake City Lodge #127, 765 East Seneca Street, Oswego including:
    * Breakfast- all you can eat
    * Santa
    * NY Masonic Safety ID (MSID) Child & Adult- Free signup
    * Christmas music- taped, TV, movie
    * OCYO musicians & friends perform
    * Audition applications to join OCYO- available there for Orchestra students grades 7-12
    * Diamond Necklace Raffle- winner will be drawn on December 21

    The Buffet usually includes the lodge’s renowned French toast, pancakes, home fries, eggs, bacon & sausage.     Fulton Youth Soccer will hold it registration for the 2015 spring season on February 25, 26 and March 3 from 6:00-8:00 PM and on March 7 from 9:00 AM until noon at the Fulton Municipal Building. Forms can be printed in advance from our website, and they will be available at the door.
