Yvonne Shatrau, worked at Betty’s Place

Yvonne J. Shatrau, 71, of Fulton, died Monday, June 18, 2012 at University Hospital, Syracuse, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Oswego to the late Charles and Doris (Coville) Haynes. She has been a longtime resident of Fulton. Mrs. Shatrau worked for many years at Betty’s Place, Fulton as a waitress. She was an avid bowler and she served as the past secretary for the Thursday Night Women’s League, the Mixed League and the Bowling Association.

Mrs. Shatrau was an honored recipient of the Bowling Hall of Fame.

She was an avid volunteer and participant of All Saints Episcopal Church, Fulton. She was also a past Brownie Leader and Daisy Troop Leader.

Mrs. Shatrau was pre-deceased by her granddaughter, Janell Granger.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert Shatrau of Fulton; five children, James L. Cummins of Virginia, Jeanette (Richard) Mills of Fulton, Wallace (Deborah) Cummins of Fulton, Melissa Granger of Fulton and Robert “Boog” (Christine) Shatrau Jr., of Fulton; five siblings, Charles (Pauline) Haynes of New Hampshire, Charlotte Cahill of Oswego, Harriet Whitten of Fulton, Doris Mae Ritz of Pennellville, and Barbara Haynes of Gouverneur; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today, June 23 at 9 a.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, Fulton with Rev. Harold Avery officiating. Burial will be held privately.

Calling hours were held yesterday at Sugar Funeral Home, Fulton.
