The Fulton varsity football team quickly found itself facing a 21-point deficit when it took on Nottingham Friday.
Fulton struggled to cut into the deficit as Nottingham came away with a 35-7 win.
Nottingham got off to a quick start during the first quarter.
Derrick Gore gave Nottingham a 7-0 lead after he rushed for a three-yard touchdown. Later in the first quarter, Gore struck again. He scored on a run from 7 yards out which gave Nottingham a 14-0 lead.
Before the first quarter ended, Gore scored his third touchdown of the game. He scored on a run from 55 yards out, which gave Nottingham a 21-0 advantage. Both teams found the endzone during the second quarter.
Nottingham took a 28-0 lead when Marty Clanton threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Tyquon Rolon. Before the first half ended, Fulton’s Mark Pollock scored on a 10-yard touchdown run to cut Nottingham’s lead to 28-7.
Nottingham added another score during the third quarter when Rolon caught another touchdown pass from Clanton. Clanton’s 55-yard touchdown pass capped off Nottingham’s 28-point win.
With the loss, the Red Raiders finish the regular season with an overall record of 2-5 and a division record of 1-3.
