Oswego County is considered a stronghold for the Republicans, however, a recent poll shows President Barack Obama has a strong lead over his Republican challenger Mitt Romney.
According to a Siena Research Institute poll, conducted between Sept. 5 and Monday, Obama has a 19-point lead over Romney in the newly created 24th Congressional District, which includes all of Onondaga County, Cayuga County, and half of Oswego County.
Obama was the favored candidate with 55 percent of likely voters while Romney garnered the support of 36 percent of likely voters.
