Hannibal varsity wrestling coach Mike Kitts has an interesting task on his hands this season. The Warriors will feature a team that has many younger wrestlers with an abundance of potential.
With this in mind, Kitts expects to see many first-year varsity wrestlers in the lineup. However, he also has a handful of experienced wrestlers returning this season as well.
Kitts suggested that the key to his teams success this winter will depend on his younger wrestlers and the amount of potential that they can realize this season.
While having such a unique dichotomy of the experience level of his wrestlers, Kitts keeps his team’s goals for the season simple but straight to the point. For his experienced wrestlers to be where they want to be at the end of the season, they must work hard and show improvement on a consistent basis.
Hard work and consistent development will also be crucial for Kitts’ younger wrestlers as well.
When practices began in early November, the Warriors took part in two weeks of activity that primarily aimed to help them develop the conditioning that they will need for competition. Kitts expects his team to become more and more physically prepared for competition as the season goes on.
Juniors Greg Hadcock and Dustun Quallette have been selected to serve as team captains this season.
