Melvin Sherman, Navy veteran

Melvin C. Sherman, 86, of Fulton, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at James Square Health and Rehabilitation Center in Syracuse.

A native of the Waterloo area, he was a life resident of Fulton. Mr. Sherman retired from Penny Curtis Trucking in 1988 after more than 10 years. He had previously worked for General Foods, BirdsEye Division in Fulton. He also was the site manager for the Food Co-Op, Fulton. Mr. Sherman was a Navy veteran.

He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Sherman.  Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Utley of Florida, Patricia Barber of Fair Haven and Sandy Gioia of Oswego; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours. Services are private.  Contributions may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, 13220 or to American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons Street, P.O. Box 7, East Syracuse, 13057.

Foster Funeral Home was in care of arrangements.
