The Fulton girls varsity basketball team won in convincing fashion when it took on Homer Dec. 21.
Fulton held Homer to an average of six points per quarter as the Lady Raiders cruised to a 51-24 win.
Fulton wasted little time dashing any hope Homer had for an upset. The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 12-point first quarter lead. During the second quarter, Fulton outscored Homer by nine points to take a 21-point halftime lead at 32-11.
Despite an improved effort by Homer during the second half, the Lady Raiders remained consistent. They outscored Homer by three points during the third quarter to bring their lead to 24 points. During the fourth quarter, the Lady Raiders outscored Homer by three more points to cap off the 27-point win.
Fulton was led by Jessica Hudson, who scored 15 points. Christina Pensabene scored 11 points and Nicole Hansen and Michaela Whiteman each scored seven points.
Taylor Duda, Michelle Gorea and Sydney Plato combined to score 11 points for the Lady Raiders.
With the win, Fulton’s record improves to 3-3.
Fulton will begin the 2013 portion of its schedule with games against Whitesboro Jan. 2 and Cortland Jan. 4.
The Fulton girls varsity soccer team’s regular season came to an end with games against East Syracuse-Minoa and Mexico.
East Syracuse-Minoa defeated the Lady Raiders 2-1, but responded with a 1-0 win against Mexico on Senior Night.
The Lady Raiders found themselves trailing 1-0 going into halftime of their Oct. 16 contest against East Syracuse-Minoa. Though Fulton got onto the scoreboard during the second half, East Syracuse-Minoa tallied another goal as well.
Fulton was led by Jocelyn Ravesi, who scored the Lady Raiders’ lone goal on an assist by Katelyn Caza. Goalie Allyson Bricker made sven saves.
Fulton’s first-half goal against county rival Mexico Oct. 18 proved to be the difference in the game. As the Lady Raiders defense preserved the shutout during the second half, Fulton sent its seniors out in style with a 1-0 win over Mexico.
Leading the way for Mexico was Goalie Tyler Julian, who made three saves.
Fulton was led by LeAnne Pawlewicz, who scored the game’s only goal on an assist by Courtney Beckwith. Bricker saved both of Mexico’s shots on goal.
With the win, Fulton’s regular season concludes with an overall record of 10-4-1 and a division record of 9-4. The Lady Raiders go into Sectional Play as the fifth seed and will travel to Indian River Friday night.
