The sale of the former Valero gas station, located at 48 W. First St., was approved by members of the Fulton Common Council Tuesday.
The foreclosed building has been on the market for five to six years. Local resident Kevin Niver has submitted a purchase offer on the property. He plans to renovate the building for his own business, which he hopes to pass down to his family.
Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward said that Niver works for Oswego Health and is a former Birds Eye employee. Woodward noted that Niver plans to operate a liquor store and that the sale of the property is contingent on approval of a state liquor license.
The former Valero gas station was listed by Realty USA. Niver has an accepted purchase offer of $70,000 for the land, building and equipment. The commercial property was listed at $119,000.
The store is located on busy Route 48 at the center of the west side of Fulton. It is located next to a full service car wash.
Included in the sale are working coolers, counter shelves, a new gas line and a 100 BTU gas furnace/AC, which was recently installed. The black top parking lot has also been repaired and has ten available parking spaces. The front windows were also replaced with safety glass.
