Mr. Rizzo was born in Fulton, the son of the late Frank and Madeline (Scalise) Rizzo, and he remained a resident of the Fulton and Phoenix areas all his life.
Mr. Rizzo received his bachelor of science degree from Syracuse University. He retired from Nestle’s Co., Fulton after many years of service.
Mr. Rizzo was an avid bowler, member of bowling leagues, and a member of the Phoenix VFW.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Rizzo in 1999.
Mr. Rizzo is survived by his son, John J. Rizzo Jr. of Fulton; daughters, Madelyn Dievendorf of Minoa, Elizabeth Rizzo of Rome, and Connie Yablonski of Oswego; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 16 at 9 a.m. at Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second St., Fulton, and at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, Fulton.
Spring burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours were held Tuesday at the funeral home.
