The Fulton girls varsity soccer team moved on to the semifinals of the Section III Class A playoffs after winning a thriller against Indian River Friday.
In a defensive battle, the Lady Raiders scored the game’s only goal during the second half en route to a 1-0 win over Indian River.
The Lady Raiders’ second-half goal by Katelyn Caza was all that Fulton needed to secure the win. Caza’s goal was assisted by Courtney Beckwith.
Gaolie Allyson Bricker saved all 4 of Indian River’s shots on goal.
With the win, Fulton’s record improves to 11-4-2 overall. The Lady Raiders were scheduled to compete against top seeded Whitesboro in Chittenango Tuesday.
A win against Whitesboro would allow Fulton the opportunity to play for the Class A championship against either Jamesville-DeWitt or Camden Nov. 1 in Chittenango.

The Fulton girls varsity soccer team jumped out to a solid lead and didn’t look back when it took on Syracuse Sept. 11.
The wind was taken out of Syracuse’s sails when Fulton jumped out to a three-goal lead during the first half.
With five Lady Raiders tallying goals, Fulton cruised to a 7-0 win over Fowler.
The Lady Raiders got off to an impressive start. It was clear Fowler struggled to find an answer to the depth Fulton displayed.
By halftime, they had built a three-goal lead. The Lady Raiders added four more goals during the second half.
