Oswego native’s EP could win nomination for ‘Best Folk Album’

Acoustic singer-songwriter and Oswego native Christopher Battles is a finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition and could win a GRAMMY Nomination for Best Folk Album with his 2012 release, the “Miles Upon Miles EP.”

The EP is Battles’ solo-debut independent release on the acoustic singer-songwriter scene. An alumnus of Oswego High School, Battles was accepted to the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam in 2006.

Graduating in 2010, he made his way to New York City to pursue his songwriting career and has had the honor of being an artist-in-residence at Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory and can be heard as a featured audio blogger on NCPR.

In addition to the prospective nomination, the EP’s title track is a finalist in the 17th annual USA Songwriting Competition for Best Folk Song. The “Miles Upon Miles EP” was mixed and recorded in Williamsburg, Brooklyn with Steven Hero Productions.
