Fulton girls lacrosse team loses to Onondaga

It was a tail of two halves when the Fulton girls lacrosse team took Onondaga Saturday. During the first half, the contest featured two evenly matched teams playing next to even lacrosse.

Onondaga, however, was more effective in the second half. Improved defense and second-chance shots on goal helped Onondaga to pull ahead and away from Fulton for an 8-6 win.

Following a competitive first half of play, Fulton had a one goal lead at 5-4. The second half was a different story. Onondaga used second-chance opportunities to outscore Fulton by three goals en route to the two-goal win.

Sweet Thing and I made it back on Wednesday after an uneventful trip – just the way we like it.

One of the first things that I did was to take the hollow Bufflehead decoy that I carved in Florida out to Tom Duger for the Wild Turkey Federation banquet next week.

It’s an attractive drake, actual size, and hand carved as a premium hunting decoy. I plan to do several more of them in the next two months.

Most of Wednesday afternoon and evening were filled with unpacking and starting to get things put away, but we hit the hay early.

The Fulton softball team went into the fourth inning of Wednesday’s game against Jamesville-DeWitt trailing by only three runs.

By the end of the inning, Jamesville-DeWitt had taken a competitive game and blown it wide open.

The fourth inning was part of a two-inning stretch where Jamesville-DeWitt outscored Fulton by nine runs en route to a 13-1 win.

Fulton baseball falls to Christian Brothers Academy

Christian Brothers Academy scored six runs against the Fulton baseball team during the second inning of the team’s game Monday afternoon.

CBA’s second inning offensive explosion essentially set the tone for its 19-8 win over Fulton.

Neither team was able to score until the second inning of play. CBA scored six runs to take a 6-0 lead. Fulton responded during the top of the third and fourth innings. The Raiders scored two runs to cut Christian Brothers Academy’s lead to 6-2.

Fulton boys tennis team tops Cortland 5-2

The Fulton boys tennis team topped Cortland 5-2 Tuesday afternoon.

In first singles, Fulton’s Mitchell Lalik defeated Cortland’s Kyle Davis 6-3, 6-0. In second singles, Fulton’s Eric Naioti defeated Cortland’s Devin MacHenry 6-0, 6-0.

In third singles, Fulton’s Nathan Deavers defeated Brandon Schaff 6-0, 6-3. In fourth singles, Fulton’s Neil Devendorf lost to Nicholas Franceschelli 7-5, 6-3.

Fulton YMCA Speed Demons hold annual awards banquet

The Fulton YMCA Speed Demons swim team celebrated a successful season at a recent awards banquet at the Fulton Polish Home.

The 75 members of the team and their families enjoyed a summer fun-themed meal, accepted awards and honored its departing senior, Chris Pridat.

Coach Dexter Hinman praised the team for placing 22 members in the YMCA State Meet held in March in Buffalo.

The 2012 States Team included Courtney Beckwith, Ross Gardner, Lacey Reich, Janelle Tallents, Kyle Buck, Andrew Distin, Justin Grower, Sage Hourihan, Zachary Perry, David Tallents, Miwa Burdic, Michael Mankiewicz, Jenna Ruzekowicz, Sarah Tallents, Camille Stevenson, Ean Stevenson, Mark Tallents, Jayda Borrow, Abigail Hinman, Rimma Mankiewicz, Jaden Patterson, and Christina Tallents.

Quick start leads Cortland past Fulton baseball 15-8

The Cortland baseball team scored all 15 of its runs during the game’s first four innings in its contest against Fulton Friday.

Fulton rallied at the end, but lost 15-8.

Cortland scored early and often, which essentially put the game out of reach before the start of the third inning. By the end of the fourth inning, Cortland had a 15-0 lead over Fulton.

ES-M tops Fulton girls lacrosse

East Syracuse-Minoa held on for a one-goal win against the Fulton girls varsity lacrosse team Wednesday.

East Syracuse-Minoa was a little more aggressive on the offensive end, taking four more shots on goal than Fulton did. The conversion of one of the additional shots proved to be the difference in ES-M’s 9-8 win over Fulton.

By the numbers, these were two evenly matched teams. East Syracuse-Minoa led by only one goal going into halftime.
