Maudie M. (Spady) Jacobs, Carrier Corp. retiree

 Maudie  M. (Spady) Jacobs, 74, of Phoenix, NY,
passed from this life, to life eternal on Saturday
July 5, 2014 after a long illness.
Born in Northhampton, VA to her late parents,
Maudie M.(Whitman) and William T. Spady on
April 6, 1940.
 She graduated Northhampton High School, class
of 1958.  Maudie was a 23-year employee of Carrier
Corp., Syracuse, retiring in 2000. She was a member of
Carrier Retirees Association.
She was predeceased by her son, Gregory James Jacobs on
May 13, 1986; and brothers and sisters.
She leaves one surviving son, George Robert Jacobs,
Jr.; very dearest friends Ron and Mary Smith of Phoenix,
and Lori and Rick Matot of Phoenix; one sister, Ruth
Gladys (William) Smith of Richmond, VA.; many nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday July 9 at the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, followed by a 3 p.m. funeral service, at 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY.
 Burial will be in Phoenix Rural Cemetery, 126 Chestnut St..
Contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

News in Brief

A Christmas in July event is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday July 13 at the Dugway United Methodist Church, Route 104, two miles east of the Interstate 81 exit in Mexico.

There will be carnival Christmas games, a drawing and auction with theme baskets, bake sale, cake wheel, craft sale, Christmas items, Christmas dinner from noon to 3 p.m. with ham, turkey and all the fixings.

There also will be a special visit from Santa.

The event will benefit the “It’s Not About Me” group at the church. for more information, call Gloria at 298-4023.

Superintendent Belfield, Principal Molloy, Mr. Rudy and the members of the Board of Education, fellow students, parents, family and friends, we are extremely grateful that you are able to join us to celebrate this milestone in our lives.
