The Phoenix varsity baseball team won two of its last three games to roll to an overall 8-3 record.
On May 5, the Firebirds beat Altmar-Parish-Williamstown 16-1. Phoenix came up short against Solvay 4-2 on May 7, while they rebounded May 8 to knock off Cazenovia 7-3 on May 8. Continue reading
The fourth annual Brian Dick Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 14.
People can sign up now to participate. All proceeds go towards the Brian Dick Memorial Scholarship at John C. Birdlebough High School in Phoenix.
The tournament is captain and crew format with four-person teams. The cost is $75 a person or $300 a team. This includes green fees, cart, hot dog, beverage at the turn, dinner after at Tavern on the Lock, skins, red tee, mulligan and extra putt (each player gets one extra putt to use during the round).
The event will be at Emerald Crest Golf Course, Palermo.

The Phoenix school board has adopted a $42,559,049 budget for the 2014-15 school year.
Residents will vote on the budget May 20. They also will elect three members to the board of education. Petitions to run for the school board must be turned in by Monday. Continue reading

Boys’ and girls’ track and field teams from Hannibal, Phoenix, Mexico and Pulaski took part in the Tully Spring Invitational April 21.
