Famous political figures, inventors, musicians and athletes roamed the cafeteria at Lanigan Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon as history came to life.

The school’s annual living history museum gave fifth-graders a chance to research a famous person from history, create a presentation about the historical figure and dress the part. Everyone from Betsy Ross to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady were represented as students in all grade levels and parents explored the museum. Continue reading

Hard work was celebrated during Fairgrieve Elementary School’s Morning Express program Thursday May 22 as nearly two dozen students received recognition.

Principal Jean Ciesla congratulated 22 students for demonstrating effort during the past month and presented the children with Virtue of the Month awards and a button commemorating their achievement.  Continue reading

FFA students flourish at state convention

Two members of the Oswego County BOCES FFA Team captured honors at the 89th Annual New York State FFA Convention. Kayla Munger, second from left, captured fifth place honors and Jennifer Young, second from right, captured fourth place honors in the floriculture competition at the convention. The pair were among 11 teams and 44 individuals to participate in this particular competition at the annual event that draws more than 1,300 FFA members from across the state. King receives Hadlow Memorial Music Scholarship

Hannibal board member honored by CNYSBA

Armed with years of experience and knowledge in the educational system, Hannibal Central School District Board of Education member Dale Young will be honored for his service during an upcoming regional meeting.

Young, who has held a school board seat for nearly a decade, has been declared a board member of achievement by the Central New York School Boards Association.  Continue reading

The halls of Michael A. Maroun Elementary School in Phoenix look like murals as student artwork was displayed during Friday’s Art Show. 

The show featured art by kindergartners through fourth-graders.

Students took their families and friends through a self-guided tour of the school.  Continue reading
