Oswego High Athletes of the Month named

FitzGibbons Insurance owner John FitzGibbons  sponsors the “FitzGibbons Insurance Athletes of the Month”, in cooperation with the Oswego Buccaneer Booster Club and local businesses.  The April and May Oswego High School “Athletes of the Month” were  recognized recently. FitzGibbons was joined by Ryan Martin (lacrosse), Grace Gilbert (track),  Ontario Orchard’s Laurie Oleyourryk, Whitney Daino (softball), Alex Kemper (tennis) and  Buc Booster President Judy Queale-Dunsmoor. Each received a $25 gift certificate for Ontario Orchards.

Fulton Athletic Boosters recognize senior athletes

The annual Senior Night Recognition Dinner for senior athletes in the Fulton school district was held Tuesday at Thunder Island.

Hundreds attended the event to highlight athletic performances by seniors before they head off after graduation later this month. It is put on each year by the Fulton Athletic Boosters.

BOCES students use what they learn to help those with diabetes

Oswego County BOCES students enrolled in the New Vision Allied Health program recently showcased their diabetes knowledge by developing a website and creating informational literature about the disease. Continue reading

Lanigan second-graders see nature at Beaver Lake

Second-graders from Lanigan Elementary School studied plants and animals in their natural habitat during a recent field trip to Beaver Lake Nature Center.

The students were given guided and self-guided tours of the trails and displays in the center. They were able to spot a wide variety of animals, insects, reptiles and more during their day-long trip and enjoyed the many signposts detailing unique natural wonders along the trails and at the water’s edge.

Leighton Elementary has annual triathlon

For 28 years, Frederick Leighton Elementary School has conducted its annual triathlon with swimming, biking and running. This year the event was held Saturday, May 31. In the top photo, the third- and fourth-grade award winners included (left to right) Elizabeth Gosselin (third), Mary Kate Cloonan (second), Axailia Avery (first), Sasha Loayza (first), Jack O’Leary (second and Gavin Mills (third).
