The Fitzhugh Park Elementary School “Crafting for the Cure” proved to be a tremendous success.
Students at the Oswego school gathered after school to design and construct a variety of craft items that culminated with a generous donation of more than $1,000 to the Golisano Children’s Hospital and Oswego Oncology.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency today issued a Request for Applications soliciting proposals from states, municipalities, tribes, universities and nonprofit organizations for Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grants to fund new projects to restore and protect the Great Lakes.

Anne N. Pisa, 84, of Oswego died Monday July 21,2014 peacefully surrounded by her loving family at St. Luke Health Services.
Mrs. Pisa was born in Rochester, the daughter of the late Carl and Jane Cacciola.
She owned and operated M. Pisa Market, Rochester and she was a teacher’s assistant at Fitzhugh Park School and Trinity Catholic School, Oswego.
Mrs. Pisa was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church and, a member of St. Paul’s Altar Rosary Society, and St. Paul’s Choir.
Mrs. Pisa is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Alphonse M. Pisa of Oswego; and she was the loving mother of Linda Kieper of Oswego, Patricia (Mark) Potter of Oswego, Michael (Peggy) Pisa of Oswego; also survived by her siblings Marie Graef, Grace Leonardo, Francis Cacciola, and Jane Cavalier; and her loving grandchildren Alan Potter, Michelle (Jeremy) Smith, Steven Kieper, Anthony Pisa, Mary Pisa; and three great grandchildren Jacob, Ruby and Charlotte.
Funeral services will be Friday July 25 at 11:30 a,m. in St. Paul’s Church. Burial will be Friday in All Saints Mausoleum.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego
