A flower to brighten the day at BOCES

Devon and Joe are students in Maureen Bennett’s class at Oswego County BOCES and organized a random acts of kindness project in which they presented a flower to several random strangers. Simple acts of kindness can brighten another person’s day, are often an inspiration, and have the power to create a positive ‘pay it forward’ movement.

FFA students flourish at state convention

Two members of the Oswego County BOCES FFA Team captured honors at the 89th Annual New York State FFA Convention. Kayla Munger, second from left, captured fifth place honors and Jennifer Young, second from right, captured fourth place honors in the floriculture competition at the convention. The pair were among 11 teams and 44 individuals to participate in this particular competition at the annual event that draws more than 1,300 FFA members from across the state. King receives Hadlow Memorial Music Scholarship

Hadlow Memorial Music Scholarship, which is awarded annually to an Oswego High School student who pursues an education and/or career in music. Deadline June 20 to apply for health care scholarship

County residents pursuing a career in the health care field may be able to receive some extra financial aid courtesy of the Rural Health Network of Oswego County.

Program Coordinator Danielle Wert said the group will once again offer scholarships to Oswego County residents who are enrolled or have been accepted in to a university/college or recognized program and are pursuing a major in the health care field. Continue reading

The Oswego County Historical Society will host the third lecture of the 2014 series at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at the Richardson-Bates House Museum at 135 E. Third St., Oswego.

A program titled “O’Captain! My Captain!: Stories of Men and Ships” will be presented by Dr. Robert Perkins, author of the recently published book of the same name.
