Girl Scouts make activity bags to help young ER patients

To help children feel more comfortable when seeking care at Oswego Hospital’s emergency department, the Girl Scouts from the Oswego Service Unit, which includes a Minetto troop, made and donated activity bags.

Oswego Rotary visited by district governor

District 7150 Governor Dennis Schonewetter addressed members of Oswego Rotary recently. Introduced by Assistant District Governor Marv Joslyn from the Baldwinsville Rotary Club, Schonewetter updated members on his year as the district governor. He’s traveled around the United States for various training components of the position and attended international conferences. He’s ‘in charge’ of 42 clubs within District 7150 and is a member of the Sherrill Rotary Club. Schonewetter’s wife Donna, also a Sherrill Rotarian, have been very active during the 2013-14 Rotary fiscal year. The governor’s term officially ends June 30. A celebration of current club presidents, president elects and district officials will be held June 26 as the new fiscal year begins with the theme Light up Rotary. Lighthouse Challenge to be held June 21-22

The first Lake Ontario Central New York Lighthouse Challenge will take place this year on Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and June 22, 2014.

The challenge is to visit six unique New York lighthouses within two days. The official Challenge route starts with Oswego’s West Pierhead Lighthouse and then moves East and West from the Thousand Islands to Rochester.   Continue reading
