Eunice Salsbury, Former resident

Eunice Salsbury of Old Town, Fla. died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. She was 88.

After traveling back and forth between New York and Destin, Fla., Mrs. Salsbury settled in Old Town five years ago. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed playing the organ.

She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church in Volney.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Leonard H. Salsbury of Old Town, Fla.; sons, John (Colleen) Salsbury of Rochester, Paul Salsbury of Rome and Donald (Cheri) Salsbury of Shingle Springs, Calif.; daughters, Susan Salsbury of Littleton, Colo. and Joyce Oakdale of Los Angeles, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Dec. 12 at Old Town Cemetery with Rev. Carl Ranier officiating.

Arrangements have been placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home.

Darryl Jodway, Marine Corps veteran

OBITS-JodwayDarryl_WDarryl Jodway, 67, of Fulton, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012 at the Veteran Administration Hospital, Syracuse after a long illness.

He was born in Fulton to the late Leon and Doris (Draper) Jodway and he has remained a life resident of Fulton.

He was a United States Veteran having served in the Marine Corp from 1965-1968 during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Jodway retired from the Local #214 Laborers Union, Oswego.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper.

Mr. Jodway was pre-deceased by his wife, Barbara Spedding; two brothers, Larry and Gene Jodway; best friend, Dick Leg; children,  James Jodway of East Syracuse and Rick Crofoot, Randy Crofoot, John Spedding and Barbette Spedding, all of Fulton; five siblings, Wanda Richards and Dennis Jodway both of Fulton, Vicki Jodway of Auburn, and Steven Jodway and Jacqueline Jodway, both of Fulton; 13 grandchildren, Jack, James, and Jason Jodway, Josh (Nicole) Dunsmoor, Tyler and Tiara Hobart, Rikki, and Randy Crofoot, Jeremiah and John Crofoot and Jonathan and Kayla Spedding; special granddaughter Maria Khan; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services and burial will be held privately. There are no calling hours. Sugar Funeral, Fulton has care of the arrangements.

Brenda Loveall, Retired nurse

Brenda Loveall, 69, of New Haven, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at Pontiac Care and Rehabilitation Center in Oswego.

Born in Baileysville, West Virginia, she was the valedictorian of her class. She later moved and had lived in the New Haven area since 2003. She had retired as a private duty nurse and was well respected within the medical community for her selfless, loving care.

She was predeceased by her son, Nelson Longsinger.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, William; children; Anna Jones, Jeanie Russell, Robert Lester, Jason Lester, Julia Yablonski and Kenneth Loveall; sisters, Shelby Belvins, Molly Flint, Linda Longsinger, Georgetta Roland and Marcia Jones; a brother, Roger Jackson; 24 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A calling hour will be held today, Dec. 15 from 9 to 10 a.m. with a 10 a.m. service to immediately follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. Burial will be at Fairdale Rural Cemetery, Hannibal.

Shirley Clark, Hannibal resident

Shirley M. (DeGraw) Clark, 76 of Hannibal, died peacefully at Oswego Hospital Saturday Dec. 1, 2012.

Born in Dover, N.J., she grew up in the Boonton, N.J. area. She loved life and her family and friends. She loved flowers, going to casinos and making banana bread.

Shirley Clark was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Helen DeGraw, and a sister, Diana Norris.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Roger Clark of Hannibal; a daughter, Terry Clark of North Syracuse; a son, Craig Clark of Hannibal; a sister, Marge Carter of Fulton; two brothers, Bill (Jesse) DeGraw of Texas and Roger (Peggy) DeGraw of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours and services were held Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association or Hannibal Volunteer Fire Department.

Stephen L. Wood, Former Fulton resident

Stephen L. Wood, 71 of Toluca, Mexico, and formerly of Fulton died Nov. 17, 2012 at his home in Toluca of a sudden illness.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leon and Ann (Nalle) Wood. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Maru (Salermaron) Wood; three sons, Stephen M. Wood of Fulton and David and Jacob Wood of Toluca; two sisters, Dawn Wood of Cicero and Jean (Gene) Huard of Fulton; one brother, Joseph (Sindi) Wood of Fulton; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held privately in Toluca, Mexico.

Anna More, Resident of Phoenix

Anna D. More, 94, of Phoenix, died at James Square Health and Rehab Center, Syracuse.

She was born in Port Chester, N.Y. to her late parents, Gertrude (Fomasone) and Charles Giannini, Sep. 3, 1918.

She was a machine operator for Cambridge Filter Co., Liverpool, retiring in the 1980s. She was a parishioner of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Phoenix.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob J. More, who died April 28, 1983.

Surviving are her sons and their wives, Richard and Patty More and David and Elaine More, all of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a daughter and her husband, Roseanne and Dane Miller of Phoenix; one brother and his wife, Tony and Tess Giannini of Connecticut; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Renee, Jackie, Kristina, Eric, Joey, and Sean; two great-grandchildren, Carleigh and Taylor; nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were held Thursday in Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix.

Services will be at the convenience of the family with Deacon Frank Forish officiating.

Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt.

Shirley Hibbert, Oswego resident

Shirley R. Hibbert, 90, of Varick St., Oswego died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 in Seneca Hill Manor.

Mrs. Hibbert was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late William and Rosemary Southworth, and she has been a lifetime resident of Oswego.

Shirley Hibbert retired in 1979 as a transportation supervisor from the Oswego City School District. She enjoyed knitting and reading.

Mrs. Hibbert was predeceased by her husband, John F. Hibbert, in 1990; her daughter, Theresa Scozzari; and son, James Scozzari.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Myer of Oswego; four grandchildren, Chuck Bahner, Michelle (Dave) France, Tim (Beth) Myer, Lisa Solazzo; and six grandchildren Mark, Phillip, McKenna, Kassandra, Cameron, and Caedance.

Funeral services were held Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial was in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Calling hours were held Wednesday at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego.

Bernadine Fragale, Former Oswego resident

Bernadine ”Bernie” Fragale, a resident of James Square, Syracuse, died peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 after a brief illness.

She was born in Rome Dec. 23, 1919, but spent her youth in Altmar until she married her husband Michael Fragale, Feb. 11, 1939 in Oswego, where she lived for many years.

Bernadine Fragale spent many years of her life working hard on their small self-sustaining farm in Oswego. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a devoted Catholic.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, Nov. 3, 2001, and her son, Joseph, July 2, 1960.

She is survived by her sons, Michael J. (Tracy) Fragale of New Mexico and Christopher G. (Annette) Fragale of Oswego; daughters, Theresa J. (Robert) Domachowski of Liverpool, Mary Lenz of Liverpool, and Anne (John) Filk of E. Aurora; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hollis (Marilyn) Mellen of Oswego and Harlow Mellon of Radisson; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday at St. Joseph’s Church, Oswego. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated. Burial was in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego. Calling hours were held Thursday at Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego.
