Hoffman, Donnelly receive Rotary excellence awards

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary Meeting, Rotarian Peggy Donnelly, in the photo above, was presented with the District 7150 Rotarian of Excellence Award.

This award is for Rotarians in good standing,  who have given devoted and valuable service to the club during and after their year as President, furthering the principles and ideals of Rotary. Donnelly has been an active project participant and supporter of the Rotary Club’s community and global projects and represents District 7150 in a way that enhances the image of Rotary in the community, the District, the Zone and Rotary International.

The Fulton Sunrise Rotary meets at 7 a.m. each Friday at Fulton’s Riverside Inn.

In the second photo, president of the Fulton Noon Rotary Club, Jerry Seguin awards Merrill Hoffman, right, with this year’s Rotarian of Excellence for his dedicated and faithful service to Rotary for 25 years.

It was noted Hoffman has a quiet presence but is always there when you need him. The members joined Seguin in thanking Hoffman and acknowledging him for his service to Rotary. Hoffman’s wife, Laurna, was present when Hoffman  was given this award.

Emily Stowell turns 1

Emily Mattingly “Button” Stowell turned one year old April 7, 2014. Helping her celebrate her first big year are her sisters, Brooke, 6, and Ali Ruth, 4. Emily is the daughter of Aaron and Jennifer Stowell of Woodstock, Ga. Her grandparents are Larry and Susan Roth Stowell of Marietta, Ga. and Bill and Patsy Rhodes of Carrollton, Ga. Her great grandparents are Clifford and Ruth Stowell of (Bowens Corners), Fulton.

Local students achieve honors at colleges

Ithaca College — Adam Kinney, a graduate student occupational therapy major in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance at Ithaca College, awarded the Graduate Professional Excellence Award. The Graduate Professional Excellence Award is given to the graduate student who will be an excellent representative of the program in the professional community of occupational therapy, through clinical work, research, interdisciplinary projects, experiential learning, or work in the profession or local community.

Heidelberg University – Meghan Yost, Mexico, senior history and political science major, spring semester dean’s list.

Nazareth College – Kenneth Marshall of Fulton and Annie Viau of Central Square, graduated May 11 with master’s or doctoral degrees. Continue reading
