Little Utica United Methodist Church will have a free kids’ dinner and movie night at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1.

The dinner menu consists of hot dogs, macaroni and cheese and pizza. There will also be chips and dip and cookies for dessert.

Following dinner will be a popular G rated movie that the kids will enjoy.

Little Utica United Methodist Church is located on Lamson Road, heading west off Route 48, just past the intersection of Lamson Road and East Mud Lake Road.

The Trinity United Methodist Church in Oswego will serve a barbecue chicken dinner from noon until sold out Saturday, Aug. 9.

Each chicken dinner includes a barbecued chicken half, buttery salt potatoes, baked beans, tossed salad, rolls and butter, beverage and a dessert.

Dinners will be served in the dining room or fixed to take out. You may call ahead to reserve a chicken dinner.

Trinity United Methodist Church is located at 45 E. Utica St., (corner of East Fourth at Utica Street) in Oswego. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a local charity.

The menu this time will be hot turkey sandwiches, vegetable, dessert and beverage.   Donations are not expected but will be accepted. Call 343-1715 with questions.

Trinity United Methodist Church in Oswego will serve a turkey dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday July 19 at the church at 45 E. Utica St.

The menu consists of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, squash, cranberry sauce, rolls and butter, beverages and homemade pie.

Takeouts will be available.

A portion of the proceeds of the dinner will benefit SAF House.

The Mount Pleasant Grange in Volney will have its waffle breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m., Saturday July 19 at the grange at 2825  County Route 45.

The special fruit topping this mnth is blueberries. The waffles will come with the usual breakfast buffet and sugar-free toppings also will be available.

Takeouts also area available.

The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 27.

The menu will be hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, salad, and dessert. Donations are not expected but will be accepted.

A collection shed is available in the parking lot at the back of the church for usable clothing items that can be recycled. Acceptable items include: all clothing, shoes, sneakers, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, drapes, and stuffed toys.

The building is fully accessible and is located at the corner of State Route 48 and County Route 8, one block south of the Stewarts Shop, midway between Oswego and Fulton, in the village of Minetto.

There will be a Chillin’ & Grillin’ night at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 23 at the Pennellville United Methodist Church, 389 County Route 54 in Pennellville.

Festivities include grilled hot dogs, chips and drinks. Music will be provided by Diana Gardiner. Come and enjoy an evening of fellowship, food and fun.

Bring your lawn chair so we can chill and grill outside, weather permitting.

News in Brief

The Park Attendant program will be returning to the city of Oswego.

AmeriCorp’s Members Cynthia Emrich and Erin Chetney will be providing equipment in conjunction with Oswego County Youth Bureau and the City of Oswego for games and activities for youth in Oswego  city parks.

The summer schedule has begun and ends Aug. 22. Children less than age 12 are recommended to have an adult with them.

Breakfast, lunch, dinner

There will be a benefit for the Dylan Blair family from 5 to 7:30 p.m. July 10 at the Hannibal American Legion.

There will be a spaghetti dinner served along with other events. Admision is by donation. Proceeds will go to Blair’s family to help pay for funeral expenses.

Blair, 18, died in a car crash June 17.
