FUMC Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School at the First United Methodist Church in Fulton is scheduled for Monday July 14 through Friday July 18 at the church on Route 176. Children ages 3 through those in sixth grade will gather for a weeklong “Beach Party,” with a bounce house, water slide, games, crafts and learning activities. Bible stories will relate to water. Children should come prepared to “get wet.” The Vacation Bible School is free. Registration is going on now by calling the church office at 592-7347. Teens can come to help out. Kenneth W. Richards, World War II Army Air Corps veteran, Sealright retiree

Kenneth W. Richards, 91, of Fulton died Saturday June 21 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.

He was born in Fulton to the late George and Iva (Dolbear) Richards.

Mr. Richards was a United States WWII veteran having served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945.

He retired from Sealright Co., Fulton where he worked as a machinist for several years.

Mr. Richards is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marion Richards of Fulton; two daughters, Kathy (Al Kieswetter) Richards of Massena, NY and Kim (Martin) Roarke of Fulton; three siblings, Karl Richards of Fulton, Austa Koes of Oswego and Keller Richards of Fulton; five grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Richards was pre-deceased by four siblings: Thelma, Nila, Norma and Kyle.

Memorial services are at 10 a.m. Thursday June 26 at the First United Methodist Church, County Route 176, Fulton with the Rev. Vivian Summerville officiating.

Burial will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Volney. Calling hours are 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday June 26 at the First United Methodist Church.

The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton has care of the arrangements. The family has requested donations be made to a charity of your choice in Mr. Richards honor.   

 

‘Fulton Family’ driver injured in Route 481 crash

The tour bus that collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 481 Saturday night had just dropped off the Pawlewicz family (featured in October in the Valley News’ “Fulton Familes”) from its fourth annual trip to see a New York Yankees game, Dan Pawlewicz confirmed to The Valley News.

The tour bus was turning left onto Route 481 from the Cayuga Community College driveway when the tractor-trailer, heading north, hit it about 11 p.m. Continue reading

Benefit July 10 for Dylan Blair family

A benefit to help the family of Dylan Blair pay for funeral expenses is scheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m. July 10 at the Hannibal American Legion.

Dennis James, a friend of the Blair family, said the benefit will be donation only — attendees pay whatever they want. There will be a spaghetti dinner served and other items available.

2 hurt in Saturday night crash in Fulton

Two people were injured late Saturday night June 21 when a tractor trailer collided with a coach style bus in Fulton, Fulton Police officials said.

At about 11 p.m., the tractor trailer was traveling north on Route 481 and collided with the bus in the process of making a left turn from the exit of River Glen Plaza onto the southbound lane of Route 481.
