It’s time for the Oswego County Fair!

An overview of the hustle and bustle at the Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek during the annual Oswego County Fair. The fair opens its run this year Wednesday July 2 and runs through Sunday July 6. There is free admission and free parking, but some grandstand shows may charge an admission fee. The fairgrounds is on Ellisburg Street, a left turn off Route 11 if you’re heading north right by the Tops grocery store.

Fulton Community Band summer concerts begin Thursday

Summer concerts by the Fulton Community Band return to the Bullhead Point pavilion, Route 3, at 7 p.m. Thursday June 26.

In addition, beginning 6:30 p.m., Friday, June 27, a variety of performers will be playing at the South First Street gazebo. 

Performance dates for the Fulton Community Band, under the direction of Carol Fox, are: June 26, July 10, 24, 31, Aug. 14 and 21. All concerts start at 7 p.m. 

Performances for the downtown gazebo are: June 27, Sounds of Brass; July 11, DayJavoo; July 18, Drew Frech; July 25, Canvas Moon; Aug. 1, Swing Set with Alan Howe; Aug. 15, Community Dixieland Band; and Aug. 27, Cortini Brothers. All performances start at 6:30 p.m.

Ruth M. Webber, loved music and dancing, her family, worked at Sealright

Ruth M. Webber, 87, of Fulton, died peacefully and gracefully in her sleep on Tuesday after recovering from hip surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Ruth was to love and be loved. Everyone who knew or had the opportunity to meet Ruth loved the sweet, kind person she was.

Ruth’s love for her family is all she lived for. She was the strongest person you would ever meet. Ruth survived the Great Depression and World War II, she never asked for much and gave all in return.

Ruth worked for 35 years at Sealright in Fulton. She enjoyed listening to music and loved to dance, but the most important part of her life was her children.

She is predeceased by her husband, Albert Webber, Sr. who died in 2006 and by several brothers and sisters.

Ruth is survived by her children, Susan Marie (John) DeMar of Las Cruces, N.M., David (Lee) Webber and Albert (Francine) Webber, Jr. both of Fulton; a sister, May Clark of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great, great granddaughter as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services are 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28 (today) at All Saints Episcopal Church, 153 S. First St., Fulton. Burial will be in Chase Cemetery, Lysander.

Calling hours were 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

Contributions in memory of Mrs. Webber may be made to the American Red Cross, 344 W. Genesee St., Syracuse, NY 13202.
