Ralph J. Plata, Sealright retiree, former Polish Home member

Ralph J. Plata, 89, of Fulton, died Friday June 27 at Michaud Residential Health Services, Fulton.

Mr. Plata was born in Oswego, NY to the late Joseph and Mary (Kruppa) Plata.

He retired from Sealright Co., Fulton after several years working as a machine operator.

He was a past communicant of Holy Family Church, Fulton. Mr. Plata was a past member of the Fulton Polish Home.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Charlotte Plata in 2009.

Mr. Plata is survived by his children,  Thomas Plata of NC, Tamara (Tony) Santiago of CA; brother, Frank Plata of Oswego, and sister Azelyn Alfiere of Syracuse; NY and two grandchildren, Nicole Plata and Christian Plata, both of WI; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held noon Thursday July 3 at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., with the Rev. Robert Stephenson officiating.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.

Calling hours will be conducted 11 am. to noon Thursday July 3 at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton.

It’s time for the Oswego County Fair!

An overview of the hustle and bustle at the Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek during the annual Oswego County Fair. The fair opens its run this year Wednesday July 2 and runs through Sunday July 6. There is free admission and free parking, but some grandstand shows may charge an admission fee. The fairgrounds is on Ellisburg Street, a left turn off Route 11 if you’re heading north right by the Tops grocery store.
