There will be a benefit for the Dylan Blair family from 5 to 7:30 p.m. July 10 at the Hannibal American Legion.
There will be a spaghetti dinner served along with other events. Admision is by donation. Proceeds will go to Blair’s family to help pay for funeral expenses.
Blair, 18, died in a car crash June 17.
A Christmas in July event is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday July 13 at the Dugway United Methodist Church, Route 104, two miles east of the Interstate 81 exit in Mexico.
There will be carnival Christmas games, a drawing and auction with theme baskets, bake sale, cake wheel, craft sale, Christmas items, Christmas dinner from noon to 3 p.m. with ham, turkey and all the fixings.
There also will be a special visit from Santa.

Valedictorian Michael Holcomb’s speech:
Thank you Mr. Greene, Mr. Charles, Mrs. Parkhurst, Mr. Lynch, members of the board of eductaion. Thanks also to family and friends that have chosen to attend the ceremony, and of course my fellow members of the class of 2014.
As I was writing this speech I would constantly hear two phrases that irked me.
First: “It doesn’t really matter what you say, no one will remember it down the road anyways.” Second: “All graduation speeches sound the same: ‘We made it,’ or ‘We did it,’” and so on. Continue reading

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate degree. Ryan was an honors graduate. She is the daughter of Patrick and Tracey Ryan of Fulton and a 2012 grad of G. Ray Bodley High School, Fulton.
