Family mourns lost ‘daughter, sister, mother,’ Carol Wood

Family members of Carol Wood, who has been missing since August 1996, threw a wreath and a bucket of red and white roses into the Oswego River Wednesday where Wood’s car was found last week. Continue reading

OCO Nutrition Services celebrates 40th birthday

When Congress enacted the Older Americans Act to address the social services needs of older people, it was seen as a major vehicle for promoting the delivery of social services to seniors.

Its mission was to help older people maintain maximum independence in their homes and communities and to promote a continuum of care for the vulnerable elderly.

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for more volunteers to staff the O’Mara Welcome Center on Route 104 in Oswego.

RSVP, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, partners with the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce to staff the O’Mara Welcome Center.

County to apply for grant money to build Internet network

Oswego County will apply for grant money to help build a high-speed fiber Internet network in the county.

The county Legislature passed a resolution at its June 12 meeting to move forward seeking money from the Northern Border Regional Commission, which offers assistance for this type of project. Continue reading
