Fulton teen competes today in Feinstein singing competition

Aspiring singer Joshua Batstone of Fulton will compete in the Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Northeast High School Vocal Competition today.

The competition will be held at Yamaha Artist Services in New York City. The regional winner will advance to the national Feinstein Competition in Carmel, Indiana, July 20-25. Continue reading

 “In the Hayloft” concert series at Esperance Fruit Farm in Red Creek will present a concert with the Susquehanna String Band, featuring Rick Bunting, John Kirk, and Dan Duggan, at 8 p.m. Friday June 13.

Rick Bunting, past chair of music education at Crane School of Music at Potsdam State, has long been recognized for his wonderful vocal renditions of Scottish airs and ballads.

With the first full year of Arts in the HeART Gallery completed, CNY Arts Center announces festivities for a month-long celebration during June at the Gallery at 47 S. First St., Fulton.

Every Wednesday and Saturday an event is planned with a special birthday party to wrap up the celebration at month’s end.

Performance date change for ‘You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown’

CNY Arts Center announces a change in performance dates for the final weekend of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown.

The closing matinee on Sunday, June 15 at 3 p.m. has been canceled. A performance has been added at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 14.

Comedies on Fulton Community Theatre stage this month

Alex (Brian Pringle) tries to explain to his wife that now is not the best time to call, as he is trying to watch a play – while Susan (Colleen Dietrich), an actress on stage, tries to survive this one of many interruptions to her show in “Take Five” by Westley M. Pederson. That comedy, along with “Who Am I This Time?” by Christopher Sergel, based on the short story by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., make up Fulton Community Theatre’s latest production, “The First Time: An Evening of One-Acts from New Directors”.

Hannibal senior band concert June 10

Hannibal High School’s Senior Band Concert will be held Tuesday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.

The senior send-off concert is a bid farewell to graduating seniors and foreign exchange students. The concert showcases student’s musical development that’s happened throughout the course of the year. Select students will also be awarded medals for solos and All-County. Continue reading

Balloon Fest off to a great start

Hundreds showed up on a clear evening filled with blue sky to attend the first Oswego County Balloon Fest at the county Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek.

In addition to the food, vendors, animals and bounce houses for the kids, four colorful balloons took to the sky at about 7:20 p.m., floating over the fairgrounds and then out over the villages of Sandy Creek and Lacona.
