All Aboard Fishing Weekend June 20-22

The Fair Haven Fishing Association is hosting its All Aboard Fishing Weekend Friday June 20 through Sunday June 22.  

This is the ninth year for fishing with children with special needs and the sixth Fair Haven Wounded Warriors fishing event for military personnel. 

More than 20 children from Fair Haven and the surrounding areas and 25 Fort Drum soldiers in the Warrior Transition Program and with special needs will join the fishing trip this year. Continue reading

OCO Nutrition Services celebrates 40th birthday

When Congress enacted the Older Americans Act to address the social services needs of older people, it was seen as a major vehicle for promoting the delivery of social services to seniors.

Its mission was to help older people maintain maximum independence in their homes and communities and to promote a continuum of care for the vulnerable elderly.

Teachers wear jeans to raise money for Red Cross

For many years, the Oswego Classroom Teachers Association has participated in the Heroes for the American Red Cross Campaign. All faculty and staff that participated paid $5 to wear jeans for one day or $10 to wear jeans for the entire week. They raised $1,770 for this year’s campaign. CRE8 Solutions visits Oswego Rotary

Heathe Jones, from CRE8 Solutions, was a guest recently at Oswego Rotary.  Jones presented a program, based on her company CRE8 Solutions, that invests in the local community to make it a better place to live, shop, work and play. Jones stressed the importance of creativity, partnerships, networking, idea incubation and collaboration between community stakeholders. Volunteers needed for O’Mara Welcome Center in Oswego

The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for more volunteers to staff the O’Mara Welcome Center on Route 104 in Oswego.

RSVP, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, partners with the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce to staff the O’Mara Welcome Center.
