Readers enjoy ice cream sundaes

Accelerated Reader is a reading incentive program designed to inspire children to read. Fairgrieve students sign out and read Accelerated Reader books from the school library, take computerized reading comprehension tests about the books and earn points based on the number of questions answered correctly.

Rotary celebrates Top 100 at Oswego High School

A celebration of the academic success of the Oswego High School Top 100 was conducted recently at the OHS Dining Hall.Several students were participating in the event for every year they attended school. In front are  (Left to Right):  Tory Welsh, Madison Collins, Katelyn Clary, Erica Atkins, Nina Alcasid, Mallory Gordon, Elizabeth Baker and Kerrigan Cummins, Rotarian Sue Witmer and Board of Education member Thomas DeCastro. In back are Rotarian Dave Welsh, Superintendent of Schools Ben Halsey, Board of Education President Kathleen Allen, Courtney Johnson, Mitchell Schrader, Cassandra Hondro, Zachary Salvador, Bo Yang Li, Allison Mosier, Rotarian Terry Gorman Board of Education member Sam Tripp, Oswego High School Principal Brian Hartwell and Board of Education member Michael McLaughlin. (Board of Education member Lynda Sereno was also present).

For the 25th consecutive year, the Oswego High School Top 100 students have been  honored.

For a quarter of a century the Oswego Rotary Club has presented recognition to the Oswego High School academic elite. Nearly 400  people packed the Oswego High School Dining Hall for the annual “Top 100” dinner.  Continue reading

Carol Vescio of Fulton recently received the 2014 Community Service Award from Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club.

A Community Service Award is presented to a person in the community that the club feels has donated much of their time to various organizations and functions in the area.

Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. every Friday at Fulton’s Riverside Inn.

Quilt donated to local nursing home

Lauren D’Amico, Lona Liverman and Michelle Rodrigous show off a quilt they and others from Oswego Industries worked on at The Robin’s Nest Quilt Shop & More in Fulton. Robin Hall, owner of the shop, said participants in the life program at Oswego Industries worked to make the quilt which then was donated to a local nursing home. The participants made the quilt while taking classes twice a week with Hall and a staff person from Oswego Industries at the shop. They will continue clases and another quilt donation will be made in the community at a later date.
