Sheriff’s office hopes Nancy Jo Scamurra cold case reminder jogs memories

It was July 1, 1984 when Nancy Jo Scamurra went missing.

The then 14-year-old was last seen walking alone in the late evening hours of July 1 in the area of Scamridge Curve and Evanshire Lane in her hometown of Amherst, outside Buffalo.

Police believe she may have been walking the family’s German shepherd dog, which returned home.

On the 30th anniversary of her disappearance, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office is bringing the cold case to the public eye again in hopes someone remembers seeing something, hearing something that could be helpful in the case. Continue reading

Summer concerts grace Phoenix with Elvis and more

Tom Gilbo has been singing his tribute to Elvis Presley since he was five years old and will continue when he kicks off this summer season at Henley Park in Phoenix.  

“Music in the Park’s” opening concert is 6 p.m. Monday, July 7, at Henley Park in Phoenix. Gilbo, with his perfect pitch gracefully gliding to the highest of notes, brings Elvis alive for crowds in Phoenix and elsewhere. Continue reading

Maffei visits Sunrise Rotary

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary Meeting, Rotarian Dan Farfaglia introduced Rep. Dan Maffei, congressman from the 24th district. Maffei, who is also a Rotarian, spoke how Rotary guidelines enhance his role in the House of Representatives.  He suggests taking off the political labels to see the solution and work together and that it is acceptable to express differences.
