The state is making it easier to buy tickets for the Great New York State Fair.
For the first time ever, people can buy tickets online to attend the fair, which runs from Aug. 21 to Sept. 1.
The Oswego County New Horizons Band will participate in a concert with the New Horizons Chorus at the Minetto United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8. The band has about 42 members. Most are from Oswego County but some travel from Cayuga and Onondaga counties.

The Fulton Force elite traveling baseball team started their week on Saturday July 12 with the opening ceremony at the Cooperstown World Baseball Classic.
The following local students graduated or achieved honors at area colleges and universities:
Air Force Airman 1st Class Joshua Lucas graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
