Library plans computer courses

The Library Learning Center at the Oswego Public Library is offering a four-part Introduction to Computers workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 6, 13, 20 and 27.  

Each class is free. Topics covered by the instructor include: mouse and keyboard basics, getting started with programs, basic hardware components, and introduction to the Internet.

No previous experience with computers is necessary.

The Library Learning Center will also offer a four session Internet Basics workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 4, 11, 18, and 25. This free workshop will include topics such as how to connect to the Internet, how to use a web browser, searching for information, online privacy and safety, email and social media.

In addition to our introductory workshops, the Library Learning Center will feature workshops on Selling on Ebay, Facebook, iPhones, Downloading Library Books for Kindle, Windows 8 and Computer Tune Up.

Dates and times are as follows:

  • 2 to 4 p.m., Aug. 6 — Selling on Ebay
  • 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 8 — Facebook
  • 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 15 — iPhone Basics
  • 2 to 4 p.m., Aug. 20 — Downloading Library Books for Kindle
  • 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 22 — Windows 8
  • 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 29 — Computer Tune Up

The Library Learning Center is located on the lower level of the Oswego Public Library, and is open Monday-Friday.
