Leighton Elementary students honored for reading

The “4” the Love of Reading Award was presented to students at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School. Long time educator Norma Barnes retired from the district several years ago, but her support of her former school continues. She annually donates books to the school library as part of a grant she received from Walmart. This year the fourth grade reading awards were given to Alexander (Sasha) Loayza and Kate Cloonan. They were joined in the celebration of the recognition by Principal Julie Burger (far right) and fourth grade teachers Jessica Bowman and Terri Fear.
