Minetto sixth-graders presented with awards

Minetto Elementary School recently conducted its sixth-grade honors program. Among the Principal’s American Citizenship Award and the New York State Attorney General’s Triple “C” Award were (front row) Charlene Brockway (Triple “C”) and Megan Delong (Principal); (second row) Nichole DelConte (Principal), Andrew Gentile (Principal) and Cierra Dunning (Triple “C”) while joining them were members of the Oswego High “Class of 2014” Molly Malone and Kyle Collins and Principal Dr. Dean Goewey.
Minetto Elementary School recently conducted its sixth-grade honors program. Minetto Elementary School sixth-graders were in the spotlight at the annual honors program conducted before a cafeteria-packed with parents, friends, family and staff members.

Principal Dean Goewey presented certificates to each sixth-grader and also recognized several other students with special awards.

The “Principal’s American Citizenship Award” was presented Nicole DelConte, Andrew Gentile and Megan Delong while the New York State Attorney General Triple “C” Award  for “character, courage and commitment” was given Charlene Brockway and Cierra Dunning.

Former Minetto alumni Molly Malone and Kyle Collins, who were members of the Oswego High School “Class of 2014,” addressed the students and provided them with some information that will benefit them in their academic journey through middle school and high school.

Receiving the “President Award for Educational Excellence” as they excelled academically and have exceeded proficiency on the New York State Test in English Language Arts and Math were Phillip Kelly and Adam Lofthouse.

The “President Award for Academic Achievement” was also presented for outstanding educational growth, improvement, commitment and intellectual development.

The honored students included Hannah Blackburn, Charlene Brockway, Carson Colucci, Cole Cullinan, Kaitlyn Czerow, Emily Dann, Grace Deland, Nicole DelConte, Megan Delong, Cierra Dunning, Andrew Gentile, Clare Hook, Noah Lyboult, Morgan Mace, Seth Perrin, Wolfgang Pierce and Cody Vincent.

Students also received awards for band, orchestra, vocal music, art, physical education, science, social studies, reading, writing and mathematics.

Joining Goewey for the presentation of certificates to the students were teachers Tracy Anderson, Shirley Hadley and Tanya Wadsworth.

Minetto sixth-graders moving on to the Oswego Middle School in September include, from Anderson’s class,  Tyler Bieganowski, Charlene Brockway, Lucas Capstraw, Cole Cullinan, Emily Dann, Andrew Gentile, Skyler Green, Clare Hook, Rilye Johnson, Brittany Kaye, Phillip Kelly, Adam Lofthouse, Morgan Mace, Ashley Mays, Seth Perrin, Elizabeth Wallace, Kylie Wallace and Chase Wegzyn.

From  Wadsworth’s class Julian Allen, Garrett Besaw, Hannah Blackburn, Mason Cass, Joshua Collett, Carson Colucci, Kaitlyn Czerow, Grace Deland, Nicole DelConte, Cierra Dunning, Michael Gushlaw, Mark Jones, Jayden Lee, Riley Mahoney, Courtney Perras, Jerry Sliwa, Alexandria Stowell, Cody Vincent and Mariah Woodward.

The remaining sixth-graders, in Hadley’s class,  moving on to Oswego Middle School were Hailey Babcock, Dustin Burden, Megan Delong, Dalton Gibson, David Greene, Mary Hamilton, Nichole Lambo, Joshua Lane, Noah Lyboult, Patricia Milner, Logen Nelson, Wolfgang Pierce, Andie Rose, Emily Shurtliff, Hunter Thompson, Kathleen Thompson and Alexander Thorpe.
