UPK spots available in Oswego schools

The Oswego City School District still has openings for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) program.

The program is designed for children who were born between Dec. 2, 2009 and Dec. 1, 2010 and is offered at no cost. There are openings at Minetto, Riley, Kingsford, and Fitzhugh schools.

The program runs in conjunction with the regular school district calendar.

Morning and afternoon sessions are available. The program runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:45 to 3:20 p.m.

The goals of the program are to meet the individual needs of 4-year-old children in the areas of social, academic, language, emotional and physical development. This prepares them to successfully enter kindergarten the following year.

Anyone who would like to enroll their child for the program can contact the Office of Curriculum and Instruction at 341-2013 for an application.
