The Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering free mosquito larvicide kits for the general public again this year.
One free kit per homeowner is to be utilized around the perimeter area of their homes in containerized pockets of water.
These kits are not designed to be used indiscrimanently in an open body of water, i.e. a creek, stream or pond that has an outlet and/or wetland.
These kits kill mosquito larva before they can develop into an adult mosquito. The kits are meant to help reduce the mosquito populations around the house that might carry the EEE or West Nile virus.
These kits are now available to be picked up for free by the general public at the following locations:
In the respective town halls of Volney, Schroeppel, Hastings, West Monroe, Constantia, Parish, Mexico, New Haven and Palermo. They are also available at the Village offices of Central Square and Mexico; as well as the Soil and Water Conservation Office located at 3105 state Route 3, outside Fulton.
For more natural resource information, stop in at 3105 state Route 3 (next to the Bristol Hill Land Fill), or call the Soil and Water Conservation office at 592-9663, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
