On Friday June 13, police officials found and removed the car that had been reported seen in the Oswego River in Fulton.
Also found in the car is what police believe are human remains. Media reports from over the weekend state the car could be that of Carol Wood, who was last seen leaving an Oswego business in 1996 in her 1993 red Toyota Corolla.
Family members have said the car is Wood’s. Oswego City police said there is no official word yet on the owner of the car or any identifictaion on the remains.
The car pulled from the river was an early 1990s model red, four-door Toyota Corolla LE. The vehicle did not have registration plates affixed to it nor has it been positively identified at this time as to its registered owner.
Janice Growe, Wood’s sister, could not be reached over the weekend.
The vehicle and possible human remains have been transported to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office in Syracuse for further investigation.
Helping with the investigation and removal of the car from the river were the Oswego City Police, Fulton City Police, Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police as well as members of the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office.
