France completes basic training


Austin D. France has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., where he successfully completed 13 eeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally.

During basic training, France was awarded an Expert Badge for Shooting Skills at the rifle range qualifications. 

After graduation, he spent five weeks at Camp Geiger, N.C., for additonal Marine combat training and then on to eight weeks at Meridian, Miss. Naval Air Station for training as an aviation operations specialist.

He is stationed at Cherry Point N.C. Naval Air Station to complete schooling as an aviation operations specialist. He also received a promotion and is now a private first class.

France is a 2013 graduate of Hannibal High School.

He is the son of Carl and Stacie France, brother of Ethan, grandson of Larry and Roxanne Wavle and Leon and Kathy France and great grandson of Ralph and Joan Hayden.
