The Fulton boys’ varsity lacrosse team has a 5-8 record after losing its last three of four games.
On April 25, New Hartford topped the Red Raiders 12-5. Cortland held off Fulton 10-8 on April 29. The Red Raiders knocked off Whitesboro 11-4 May 2, while Jamesville-DeWitt rolled past Fulton 16-3 May 6.
New Hartford scored two quick goals to build a 2-0 lead over Fulton in the first quarter. Then the Spartans added to the lead, scoring three more goals to Fulton’s two for a 5-2 lead at the half.
New Hartford didn’t let up during the second half, outscoring the Red Raiders 7-3 during both the third and fourth quarters to come away with a 12-5 win.
Leading the way for Fulton was Brett Campolieta with two goals, followed by Matt Nelson with a goal and an assist. Bryce Knight and Mark Pollock each had a goal. Seth DeLisle was credited with an assist. Fulton Goalies Brandon Batstone and Scott Hughes combined to save 12 of 24 shots.
In the Cortland game, the score was 4-4 after the first quarter. Then Cortland outscored Fulton 4-2 in the second quarter to take an 8-6 halftime lead.
Fulton kept the game competitive during the second half, outscoring the Purple Tigers in the third to come within a goal at 9-8. But they weren’t able to get any closer as Cortland added a goal in the fourth to win 10-8.
Fulton was led by RJ Borrow with two goals and an assist, followed by Bryce Knight and Carson Vono with two goals each. Matt Nelson and Seth DeLisle each had a goal. Brett Campolieta chipped in an assist. Red Raider Goalie Scott Hughes saved 10 of 20 shots.
Whitesboro jumped out to an early lead in its game against Fulton, going 2-0 in the first.
But then Fulton stormed ahead, outscoring the Warriors 4-1 in the second quarter to take a 4-3 lead into halftime. The Red Raiders put the game out of reach in the second half, outscoring Whitesboro 7-1 during the third and fourth quarters en route to an 11-4 win.
Leading the way for Fulton was Carson Vono with three goals and an assist, followed by Seth DeLisle with three goals, Matt Nelson with two goals and three assists, Bryce Knight with two goals and RJ Borrow, Brett Campolieta and Shawn Walberger combining for a goal and two assists. Red Raider Goalie Scott Hughes saved nine of 13 shots.
Jamesville-DeWitt crushed Fulton by jumping out to an early 8-1 lead in the first quarter. The Red Rams then scored four goals in the second to take a 13-2 lead at the half.
In the second half, J-D outscored the Red Raiders by a goal during the third and fourth quarters to come away with a 16-3 win.
Fulton was led by Seth DeLisle with two goals, followed by Mark Pollock with a goal. Red Raider Goalies Brandon Batstone and Scott Hughes combined to save 16 of 32 shots.
