The Oswego County Legislature and the Volney Town Board hosted local seventh-graders during Government Day.

The day is celebrated each year to allow students the chance to see how real government bodies work.

In Oswego, students from each school district in the county went to the county building on West Bridge Street, toured several county offices, received lessons in debating strategies and had live participation in a real legislature meeting.

Erin Waloven from Fulton Junior High attended and sat in the chair of her legislator, Daniel Farfaglia, D-Fulton.

Waloven, a high honor student, is an athlete in school, is involved in the music program and is interested in fashion and design, computer and technology, camping, swimming and traveling.

Anna Carole Samson sat with Town Clerk Barbara MacEwen during the Volney town board meeting and got to watch the town board in action.
