Veterans seek teen volunteers to help place memorial flags at Mt. Adnah

Local Fulton teens who would like to do a Memorial Day good deed should show up at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 18, at the entrance of Mt. Adnah Cemetery on the east side of Fulton.

The Fulton VFW Post #569 and Fulton American Legion each year undergo the task of honoring our locally buried veterans by placing a flag and/or a new flag holder at veterans’ burial spots in seven local cemeteries.

The groups welcome teen volunteers help place flags in Mt. Adnah and St. Mary’s cemetery.

There should be at least one parent for every four children for supervision and transportation. Once they are done in Mt. Adnah, they will need to be driven to St. Mary’s.

Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., and Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home will provide pizza and drinks for the volunteers after the flags have been placed.

Anyone interested in participating should email Laurie Sugar-Compson and Theresa Sugar Scanlon at or so they can let the veterans in charge know how many volunteers they can expect on May 18.
