Looking to recognize students for their positive behavior in the classroom, Granby Elementary School teachers and administrators held a celebration May 2  with a variety of activities for the students.

The PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) event celebrates the district’s approach to teaching, modeling, recognizing and supporting positive behaviors in school.

PBIS focuses on building a school environment where all students can learn and achieve their best. Students who had not received any behavioral referrals and went above and beyond to meet the district’s expectations celebrated with crafts, movies and games Friday afternoon.

In addition to games and activities, students were honored with Golden Gator Awards, which celebrate classes that exhibit positive behavioral traits.

The classes earning recognition included those of teachers Tammy VanBuren, Terry VanBuren, Mary Ellen Ellis, Karen Murdoch, Josh Osborne, Dawn Pulverenti, Louise Ritchey, Tom Briggs, Lori Dorsey, Ellen Himes and Julie Wood.
