Franklin LaDeau, former Boy Scout leader, district commissioner

Franklin LaDeau, 76, of Sterling, passed away on Thursday, April 24 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse after a sudden illness.

A native of Glens Falls, he lived in Sterling since 2000. Frank retired in 2000 from Finch, Pruyn & Co. in Glens Falls after 13 years and previously worked at Ciba-Geigy in Glens Falls for many years.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1763 in Wolcott and was a former Boy Scout Troup Leader, District Commissioner and recipient of the Boy Scout Wood Badge Beads.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Barbara LaDeau of Sterling; three step-sons, Robert (Ellen) Kidwell of FL, Richard (Leigh) Kidwell of NJ and Stephen Kidwell of Ballston Spa and nine grandchildren.

Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fair Haven Fire Department Ambulance Squad, 14447 Short Cut Road, Fair Haven, NY 13064.
