On Saturday, March 15, Master Leo Pryor, owner and head Instructor of Taekwondo America in Oswego, and assistant instructor Bernadett Pryor, accompanied their students to Queens College in New York City to participate in the 2014 New York State Championships.
Students started preparing for this event months ago and their efforts paid off.
Caden Burnswick, 6, earned a silver medal in the NY State Sparring Competition and began his Taekwondo training in October of 2012. Caden enjoys all aspects of Taekwondo, but sparring and board breaking are his favorite.
Jordan Ketcham, 17, is a student at Cayuga Community College where she tutors for math part time. She is also employed as an assistant instructor at Master Pryor’s TaeKwondo. Ketcham is a second Degree Black Belt, and earned a gold medal in the NY State Poomse Competition.
She has been training for nearly seven years and is working towards her Third Degree Black Belt. She plans to attend the national qualifiers May 20-22 in Buffalo.
Taekwondo training is an excellent way to fitness, fun and self discipline, Taekwondo is not only for children, adults of all ages can benefit from the exercise and conditioning Taekwondo offers It is a wonderful family activity.
