James T. Gregory, 84, a resident of Fulton, passed away peacefully at his home on April 21, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Cleveland N.Y., he was a son of the late John and Olive (Beebe) Gregory.
He had attended Fulton schools and was a graduate of the Fulton High School.
Mr. Gregory was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country in the Korean War, where he was responsible for placing communication wires in the field, under the threat of enemy fire.
Upon returning home, Jim found employment at Armstrong where he worked for more than 40 years, retiring in 1992.
He could often be found walking through the woods to and from work each day, crossing the busy highway, with his lunch pail in hand. While at Armstrong, Jim was the catcher for the softball team, playing for many enjoyable years.
In his later years, Jim could be found nestled in his easy chair, passing countless hours with his westerns or following his favorite sports team, the NY Yankees.
Jim was an avid gardener. He enjoyed his weekly shopping trips with his daughter and always looked forward to the arrival of his Pennsylvania family on the holidays.
His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and preparing a Sunday meal where one and all were welcome. Jim was well liked by all who met him, with his charming smile that would put one at ease.
Jim is survived by his two daughters, Lynne (Joseph) Hawksby of Minetto, Jill (Wayne) Blecher of Elizabethtown PA,; a son, Craig of Rome; five grandchildren, Heather, Amber, Joseph, Kayla and Amanda; and six great-grandchildren, Josh, Caitlyn, Alex, Cierra, Talen and Dawson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Robert, and sister, Shirley Blance.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours were Friday at the Dowdle Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Adnah Cemetery in Fulton.
