The Key Club at Hannibal High School recently inducted new members recently at a formal ceremony.
Key Club, sponsored by the Kiwanis International, is a nationally recognized service club whose members are dedicated to their school and community.
As a club, Hannibal students organize an annual Halloween party for the community, help with the Christmas Bureau, spring community cleanup and Winter Ball.
Key Club officers also were inducted as retiring officials prepare to graduate. During the ceremony retiring officers spoke of the importance of leadership, honor, character, caring and creativity.
In an especially heartfelt moment, Key Club President Natasha Waloven handed off her title to her sister, Sydney Waloven. Natasha hopes to start a Circle K Chapter at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, which she will attend in the fall.
Officers-elect include Samantha Eddy as vice president, Olivia Cacchione as treasurer, Kassi Jones as secretary and Ashley Mills and Alexis Lathrop as editors.
Four outstanding distinguished service awards also were given during the ceremony to Natasha Waloven, Malena Scott, Gabrielle Griffin and Alexis Lathrop.
Graduating seniors were given a medallion to wear at graduation in June.
The incoming Hannibal Key Club officers include: Harley Allen, Callie Cacchione, Adam Dennison, Samantha Eddy, Abby Harrell and Samantha Holmes.
