The Fulton Bantam hockey team, sponsored by Comfort Windows & Doors and Fulton Savings Bank, ended its season with a 2-1 win over Oswego in the final game of the Boulter Classic Tournament in Webster, outside Rochester.
The Raiders also shut out Oswego 3-0, topped Southtown 7-4 and Canandaigua 8-2 during the tournament.
Fulton 3, Oswego 0
Raider Evan Beckwith put his team on the board, skating the puck through the Buc defense and landing a shot late in period one. Mid second period, Fulton’s Seth Cooney took advantage of a power play, Beckwith assisting to get ahead by two.
Soon after, team captain Nolan Bonnie scored the final goal for the Raiders, taking a pass from behind the net from defenseman Zach Tulowiecki.
Fulton goalie Adam Bleiweiss made 11 saves in net.
Fulton 7, Southtown 4
The Raiders were down by one mid first period. Will Rattray tipped in Tulowiecki’s shot from the blue line, Nick Dingman also assisting, only for Southtown to score two in a row.
Beckwith netted one off Dingman’s rebound with less than a minute remaining the period. The Raiders tallied two, first with Beckwith taking a feed from Cooney, then with Cooney scoring with a wrap around goal.
Southtown narrowed the gap by one before Tyler Samson sent the puck into the lower corner, thanks to a passing play between Caleb Clarke and Dingman, earning Dingman a playmaker.
Mid period three, Raider assistant captain Richie King scored on a 3-on-5 power play, Beckwith assisting. Cooney sealed the win, accepting a pass from Beckwith and scoring on a power play.
Bleiweiss turned aside 9 shots for Fulton.
Fulton 8, Canandaigua 2
At a one-point deficit mid first period, Cooney caught a pass in front of the net from Clarke to draw even. With seconds left in the period, King sent a cross-ice pass to Beckwith who skated it in to score number 40 for the season.
Beckwith netted his second of the game off a King assist before the Knights made it a one-point game early in the second. Beckwith went on a scoring spree, tallying two more in a row; one a short handed goal off Cooney’s rebound, then a one time shot thanks to a behind the net passing play between Samson and Dingman.
Samson scored number 15 on the season with a backhand shot, Beckwith and Bonnie assisting to close the period.
Beckwith’s second short-handed goal of the game came midway through the third stanza. Bonnie netted an upper corner shot, Rattray assisting to end the game.
Bleiweiss made 16 stops for the Raiders.
Championship: Fulton 2, Oswego 1
After a scoreless first period, Rattray received a pass from Bonnie, skated the puck in front of the net and scored. Soon after, Oswego’s Bryce Phillips sunk a lower corner shot, Zach Sova assisting, to tie the game.
The third stanza saw excellent goaltending from both Bleiwiess and Buccaneer Nick Back. Tulowiecki accepted a cross-ice pass from Clarke and scored his first goal of the season with a game winning shot from the blue line.
Bleiweiss made 8 saves for Fulton and was named game MVP
