The Fulton Bantam hockey team, sponsored by Comfort Windows & Doors and Fulton Savings Bank, won two games, lost 1 and then tied 1 in four recent contests.
The team topped Camillus 1 4-1, but fell to Auburn 5-4 in a down to the minute thriller. Then they used Seth Cooney’s hat trick for a 5-3 win over Elmira but then skated to a 3-3 draw over Camillus 2.
On home ice against Camillus 1, Raider Tyler Samson scored off Seth Cooney’s rebound to open the first period. The Cougars netted the equalizer soon after.
Fulton came on strong in the second stanza, first with Fulton’s Will Rattray tipping in Nate Shaw’s slap shot from the point. Next, Raider Nick Dingman picked up C.J. Hyland’s rebound to score.
Fulton closed scoring with Cooney taking the puck in and netting an upper corner shot.
Adam Bleiweiss made 22 saves for Fulton.
On the road, Auburn stunned Fulton with a goal in the first minute of play. Raider Nolan Bonnie evened the score seconds later, accepting a pass from Mike Smith landing a shot from the blue line.
Auburn rallied in period two, netting three goals in a row. Raider Evan Beckwith scored twice to narrow the gap; first taking advantage of a loose puck in front of the net, then on a five hole shot, Shaw assisting both.
The third stanza saw spirited play from both teams. Fulton fans were brought to their feet when Beckwith completed his hat trick, roofing a shot to tie the game with less than two minutes on the clock.
Auburn was able to score on a breakaway with 34 seconds remaining to come away with the win.
Bleiweiss stopped 16 shots for the Raiders.
In its first game on the road, Fulton and Camillus 2 ended the first period scoreless.
The Raiders scored twice in the second stanza, first with Evan Beckwith netting a shot, thanks to a passing play between Caleb Clarke and assistant captain Richie King.
Soon after, Tyler Samson scored his fifth of the season off a feed from Nick Dingman from behind the net.
The Cougars narrowed the gap by one at the start of period three. Raider Nate Shaw responded with one of his own, Clarke assisting.
Camillus rallied in the last five minutes, scoring twice to end the game in a draw.
Fulton goalie Adam Bleiweiss stopped 19 shots.
Against Elmira, the Jackals were the first to light up the scoreboard mid-first period.
Fulton came alive in the second stanza, first with Seth Cooney netting two in a row, Samson and Dingman assisting. Elmira scored their second of the game before Dingman scored his fifth goal of the season off a cycle play between Samson and Will Rattray
The Jackals netted the equalizer at the start of the third stanza. Raider team captain Nolan Bonnie accepted a pass from Cooney to score.
Cooney completed his hat trick in the last seconds of play.
Adam Bleiweiss made 23 saves in net for the Raiders.
