CNY Arts Center open house, dinner today

Dec. 14 is a full day of holiday arts for CNY Arts Center.

Two locations means twice the fun starting with Holiday Open House being held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Arts in the Heart Gallery downtown, 47 S. First St.

A gingerbread house contest, free handmade ornaments while supplies last, holiday treats and a feast of original art to browse will highlight the second annual open house.

Gifts of the Season Dinner Cabaret follows at 6 p.m. in the Arts Center’s second location on Park Street (State St. Methodist Church).

The fundraiser for a new facility will celebrate into the evening with an elegant dinner, raffles, door prizes and an impressive line-up of entertainment.

Several young performers will be featured in the Cabaret entertainment line-up.

These young people, Rhiannon Ellison, Kaylee Foster and Matthew Oldenburg, were chosen for their exceptional performance abilities as part of a new program funded by a Shineman Grant received earlier in the year.

Entertainment also includes Christine Tupe and Hannah Doerrier. Christine has performed at CNY Arts Center events since winning the first Arts Fest on the River Talent Contest in 2011. Her girl group, Lois Dixon and the Olives including Hannah Doerrier and Emily Plummer, performed at this year’s third annual Arts Fest.

Adam Schmidtmann returns from CNY Arts Center’s first cabaret, Songs of the Seasons presented last spring. Adam is co-director of the Drama Club and Kids Onstage programs and performs at several theaters in the area.

These and more will celebrate the Christmas season in song at Gifts of the Season Cabaret.

Doors open at 6 p.m. The menu includes roast beef, chicken, vegetables and dessert.

There will be entertainment including Harpist Marcella serenading throughout the dinner; door prizes and raffles. Proceeds from the benefit dinner cabaret will help procure a new facility where a theatre, gallery, classes, and administration will be centralized.

Pre-sale tickets only are available at the gallery (47 S. First St., Fulton), at the Arts Center on Park Street, and on line at CNYArtsCenter.com.

No tickets will be available at the door. For more information, call 592-3373.
